Moonen 133 Mallorca Yacht Becomes Builder’s Biggest Long-Range Pocket Superyacht

Moonen is largely credited with coining the phrase “pocket superyacht” more than a decade ago. It has long focused on modest-size motoryachts still capable of crossing oceans and taking owners to far-flung destinations. A new model tops its pocket-size lineup, the Moonen 133 Mallorca yacht. The series offers several features you might not expect to find, too.

For starters, the 131-foot (40-meter) project has a healthy volume of 430 gross tons. She’s additionally a steel and aluminum build, a rarity for this size range. However, it’s in keeping with what Moonen has always done. So is the combination of the LOA and the gross tonnage. “This model adds to the breath of our yacht range designed with a different length and GT to the 110 Mustique and 122 Martinique models,” Nicky van Zon, the yard’s technical director, explains.

Megayachts that prioritize voyaging don’t tend to have the open-air beach areas that are so popular these days, especially among semi-displacement yachts. However, the Moonen 133 Mallorca yacht offers it as a choice. The multi-level beach area, with a pool, likely will appeal to clients who intend to spend the majority of their time in warm destinations. Alternatively, buyers can request a more traditional beach club, or a gym. Clearly, either still suits cruising in the Bahamas or in the Med, but also complements some cooler climes.

Inside, meanwhile, Moonen chose to collaborate with a fellow Dutch company, Vripack. To spur interest, the design team put a twist on the usual master suite layout. In fact, it’s asymmetrical, situating the bed to port and both the en suite bath and a walk-in dressing room opposite. Should someone be more of a classicist, though, the master suite can have a central bed, forward of the wardrobe and bath. Furthermore, the entrance can sit to starboard.  Regardless, the room allows waking up to enticing views of every anchorage through the full-height windows.

With multiple options for entertaining and dining, the yacht can welcome 10 to 12 guests in five staterooms. The extra capacity is possible thanks to pullman berths. Nine crewmembers take care of guests, mapping the best routes to the desired destinations, and all other operations.

Of course, since she’s a long-range motoryacht, the Moonen 133 Mallorca yacht can cover a lot of ground. In fact, she can cross oceans on her own bottom. Best range should be 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Top speed, meanwhile, should be 15 knots.

Moonen intends to start construction on contract, not spec. Delivery can take place in 2027.
