Final Finishing Stages for Oceanco Yacht Y729 Underway

The first Simply Custom megayacht project for Oceanco sees delivery in 2027. This month, she transited from her construction site in one Dutch city to her outfitting shed in another. The 262-foot (80-meter) Oceanco yacht Y729 is even more notable for being her owners’ first-ever boat.

The Oceanco Simply Custom projects involve a set technical foundation while still offering significant owner input. Specifically, the designs all start at 262 feet and can be upwards of 2,500 gross tons of volume. (This particular superyacht is 2,600 gross tons.) A variety of designers, specializing in styling and interiors, created fully buildable concepts with the Dutch shipyard. Regardless of buyers’ degree of personalization, the Simply Custom options save significant time.

The owners of the Oceanco yacht Y729—whose name is remaining confidential for now—have been collaborating with Espen Øino International and Zuretti Design. Although this is their first yacht, they have extensive on-water experience. In fact, they’ve spent multiple years chartering. Those travels convinced them to consider something purely for themselves and their family. “There’s great chemistry between ourselves, the designers, our representatives, and the shipyard,” the owners say. “Whenever we come together, it naturally turns into a celebration.”

Their representatives from Arrow Marine agree. Noel Walsh, Arrow Marine’s managing partner, considers the design and build process so far an “exceptional collaboration.” So, too, does the Oceanco team. Despite the owners being new to the process, they have “deep understanding of what it takes to keep a complex project moving,” notes Erwin de Looff, Oceanco’s project director. Furthermore, he credits them with knowing how “to truly inspire and motivate a team.” Altogether, this has allowed their superyacht to advance swiftly.

Speaking of swift, the Oceanco yacht Y729 pledges a 21-knot top speed, remarkable for her dimensions. According to the shipyard, she should also cruise at a faster-than-typical speed of 15 knots.

Though more details are scarce, the yacht will accommodate 14 in the owners’ party and 28 crew.

“Everybody involved is giving their all to the project, and the whole team feels like an extended part of our family,” the owners say. “Building this yacht together has been an incredibly joyful experience.”
