Australia’s Mantaray Marina Opening in 6 Months Along Gold Coast

With 20 of the 67 slips solely for superyachts and both retail and residential amenities to attract further interest, the Mantaray Marina has been piquing interest all during its construction. Now that this Australian facility is approaching its grand opening, the developers and marina manager are fielding more inquiries.

The development sits along Australia’s famous Gold Coast, on a peninsula nicknamed the Spit. The Pacific Ocean is to one side, while the Gold Coast Broadwater, an estuary, is to the other. Mantaray Marina should open in May, with several features finishing simultaneously or in the months afterwards. Owners and guests of visiting yachts are welcome to use an 11,840-square-foot (1,100-square-meter) floating lounge, for instance. Retail space includes multiple restaurants. A public boardwalk also straddles the Spit to connect the two bodies of water. Finally, 24 luxury residences with private pools and a larger resort pool are for sale, too.

For yachting visitors, the marina—providing short- and long-term leases—and the lounge naturally are the biggest attractions. Arriving yachts have a dedicated concierge with more than a decade of superyacht experience, at their service. The concierge can arrange provisioning, in-slip food and beverage, a courtesy car, and itineraries around the region, both on land and on the water. On-site security, WiFi, and storage are among the expected marina benefits, too.

Mantaray Marina is big new for the Gold Coast. “Marina berths are scarce, and vessel owners are looking for a high level of amenity, security, and privacy,” explains Luke McCaul, overseeing daily operations.. He touts the Broadwater’s year-rounding cruising conditions, plus its direct access to calm, protected waters and the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, owners staying for a while can incorporate visits to the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands into their plans. Should service be necessary, meanwhile, the main refit and repair yards are in the Coomera area.

As for the lounge, a.k.a. the Mantaray Club (below), it’s a two-story floating structure at the marina entrance. The main level includes a restaurant and bar, while the upper floor hosts VIP events. Not to be left out, captains and crew have a dedicated Captain’s Lounge on land, with meeting rooms and private event space.

Monthly slip leases start at AUS$2,000 (approximately USD$1,375 at press time), depending on LOA and customer needs.
