At 131 feet (40 meters), the Admiral A-40 yacht series is more of an introductory length—not just for megayachts, but also for the brand itself.
Admiral Yachts has kept a pretty tight focus pretty on the 164- to 230-foot (50- to 70-meter) size range. Simultaneously, it has prioritized fully custom yachts, with the recent Admiral Panorama 50 yacht series being its first semi-custom line. Notably, the builder itself considers the Admiral A-40 a “threshold into the universe of Admiral.”
Yet, given its experience with larger craft, the yard’s management team wants clients to feel as if they’re getting a bigger boat. The 28-foot (8.5-meter) beam and volume of just under 500 gross tons amplify the feel. Similarly, some of the styling, created by the in-house design department with Monaco-based The A Group, picks up cues from the larger megayacht deliveries.
The biggest impact in this regard, though, comes from the layout. For instance, buyers of the Admiral A-40 yacht have an upper-deck master suite. That’s highly unusual for this size range. So, too, are the VIP stateroom and four further guest cabins all being on the main deck. Interestingly, these are departures from what Admiral Yachts initially seems to have intended, judging from details on its website in recent weeks.
Although providing buyers something dramatically different tends to get attention, it’s important to incorporate in-demand amenities as well. To that point, the Admiral A-40 yacht has a beach area and a handful of alfresco lounges. The all-aluminum superyacht also promises the long range that owners want, of course. It should be 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
In related news, Admiral Yachts has a 138-foot (42-meter) version in the works. She bears the same profile but adds an open beach area. Naturally, it has opening sides to expand usable space and give a sense of unconstrained immersion in an anchorage (below). It further has a pool.
