Silverlining Furniture has earned an enviable reputation for fusing tradition and innovation in the custom pieces it designs and makes for some of the most discerning individuals in the world. They include superyacht owners, who appreciate how the craftspeople, led by company founder Mark Boddington, weave storytelling into the opulent, often natural materials. The Cracked Earth coffee table is just one example, a limited edition that is part of a larger limited-edition collection.
Layers in Time, the collection, comprises eight pieces that blend traditional skills with contemporary techniques like CNC shaping, plus experimental surface treatments. For the Cracked Earth coffee table (not to be confused with a similarly named wall piece from a few years ago), Silverlining drew inspiration from Mother Nature. Specifically, the designers strove to evoke the essence of the cracked salt flats of Deadvlei in Namibia. The sun-baked earth of Deadvlei isn’t as well known as a nearby salt flat, but it’s no less impressive.
Learn more about how Silverlining uses oak and bronze, carefully hand shaped, for the Cracked Earth table in the October edition of the monthly Megayacht News newsletter. As has been the practice for more than a decade, our monthly newsletter features stories you won’t find here on the website. So, for example, we shine a spotlight on Capt. Kelly Gordon’s efforts to elevate mental wellness onboard. We also share news of a custom 200-footer (61-meter) at Tankoa Yachts for a U.S. client, and how Oceanco has signed its largest superyacht to date. (Hint: The LOA exceeds 400 feet.)
Additionally, you can sign up for our new popular weekly news digest email. Plus, get the first word about upcoming exclusive website features and interviews.
