230-Foot Hakvoort YN258 Yacht, Builder’s Biggest, Coming in 2029

Construction should start soon on the largest megayacht under contract to date for Royal Hakvoort Shipyard. The Hakvoort YN258 yacht—using her hull number as her reference for now—is more than just big, though. She’s as much for the owner and guests to enjoy global cruising as she’ll be for her crew to have a good onboard experience.

The contract is for a 230-footer (70.1-meter) with an ample volume of 1,513 gross tons. She additionally is beamy, coming in at 38 feet (11.6 meters) wide. All of this suits an owner who has multiple long-range cruises on the mind, in addition to the above-mentioned world travels. Up to 12 more family and friends will be able to come along, too. Some of the most notable amenities include two master suites among the seven staterooms. One sits aft on the bridge deck, while the other is forward on the owner’s deck. Regardless, both should allow waking up to tremendous views. Yet another feature the owner and guests are sure to enjoy, a sports court. Two pools and a helipad will be aboard as well.

While some owners simultaneously pay good attention to the crew areas, the Hakvoort YN258 yacht owner seems to be going the extra mile. The 20 crewmembers who will handle operations will have their own gym, for instance. Furthermore, their cabins are characterized by Hakvoort as being “generous.” Certainly just as important, the overall design puts a priority on minimizing maintenance and boosting efficiency when the superyacht is at sea. To that latter point, Diana Yacht Design is ensuring all of the equipment areas and other technical areas are accessible for the long trips on the future itinerary. Finally, some of the newest waste-management systems will be aboard.

With styling and interior design by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the Hakvoort YN258 yacht will overtake a soon-to-launch project from the shipyard as its biggest to date. That project, Hakvoort YN254, is 213 feet (65 meters) in length and has a volume of 1,534 gross tons. Both are keeping a lot of workers busy as well. Klaas Hakvoort, head of the shipyard, says the new contract “will provide work for around 300 people being either direct-employed shipyard staff or through subcontractors.”

Look for delivery to take place in September 2029.
